Bio
Tyler Oyakawa, is a passionate teacher from Santa Monica, California. He holds a Master's degree in Teaching Mathematics from Loyola Marymount University, along with a bachelor's degree in Cognitive Neuroscience and a minor in Mathematics from the University of California San Diego (UCSD). He began his teaching journey through a desire to understand how people learn and make decisions. Now he's thankful to be able to put those understandings into practice. His hope is for his students to become confident problem solvers and thinkers. He's always excited when students can engage in productive struggle and grow by overcoming challenges. His teaching focuses on supporting students in developing reasoning and collaborative skills to further develop their mathematics. In his spare time he also enjoys playing the game of Go, reading, and the occasional game of tennis.
