Every month, New LA students participate in a school-wide Paideia Seminar. A Paideia Seminar is a form of Socratic seminar, where students are asked to read a thought-provoking text about a social justice issue, and engage in an intellectual and critical discussion of the issue with peers. Students learn to use their voice to express ideas using evident, listen actively, and create a response to an issue in the form of action, artwork, or poetry.
This month, students explored the concept of activism by reading "The Twelve Activist Agreements" and watching a short video about immigration activist Jose Antonio Vargas.
